Apedroc Stud launches new breeding club with the support of Oliver St Lawrence Bloodstock

This year's yearling sales have once again tracked a relentless path upwards at the top end of the market. Nonetheless, the familiar pattern of faltering mid market sales and rising stallion nomination fees continues to make life challenging for breeders who don't own countries, Premier league football clubs or mineral rights in distant corners of the globe.

With this in mind, Apedroc Stud is launching its own breeding club, in partnership with leading agents, Oliver St Lawrence Bloodstock. The club aims to help potential breeders think bigger and share their investment, hence spreading the risk and reaching the better end of the market. Apedroc's tranquil setting and bespoke care will provide the perfect opportunity to raise high quality youngsters for sale as yearlings at Tattersalls, Goffs and Arqana. The Stud already has a track record above the industry average in terms of a return on covering fees and plans to seek out promising broodmare prospects in the £150,000- £300,000 price range, covering them with proven flat stallions in the first instance and sought after new season sires subsequently. The Club will have a five year time frame in view and will be restricted to a limited number of participants who are keen to enjoy the sociable and hands-on environment at Apedroc, as well as the racing benefits when progeny run on the track. Sharing the thinking on mare selection, stallion choices and trips to the sales will be a part of the experience. The Club is open to new or experienced breeders as well as owners who may be looking for a more lasting presence in the sport than purely owning a runner.
